Positive Peace

Positive peace is defined as the attitudes, institutions and norms that build the foundation for a peaceful society. It is characterised by progress that actively addresses grievances in ways that promote safety, social justice, equality, mutual trust, and well-being. Positive peace directly tackles the root causes of conflict and builds systems of equity and inclusion, ensuring sustainable, non-violent solutions to societal issues. This process strengthens societal resilience and fosters lasting peace beyond the mere absence of conflict. (See also: Negative peace)
